Job Description:
Rockley is seeking a dedicated Seasonal Cook to join our team from April to August. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen during our busy season, catering for between 30 - 70 clients on a weekly basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, overseeing kitchen management, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and well-balanced meals for groups of varying sizes, including the production of the evening meal, and supporting our Catering Assistant with lunch preparation.
2. Develop weekly menu plans for evening meals in collaboration with management, considering client demographics and dietary requirements.
4. Place orders for food and kitchen supplies in a timely manner, adhering to budgetary constraints, with the assistance of the team.
5. Supervise and coordinate tasks with the Catering Assistant to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal service.
6. Uphold strict food safety standards and maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen area.
7. Monitor the condition of kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
8. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among kitchen staff & staff at the centre.
9. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, with a good understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
- Demonstrated experience in catering for larger numbers, with the ability to manage high-volume meal production efficiently.
- Flexible approach to kitchen management, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating tasty and nutritious meals.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to work efficiently under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
