Spend the winter in the Austrian Alps tutoring Britain's budding skiing professionals!
A vibrant and exciting role in the heart of the Pinzgau region in the Austrian Alps. The
Ambition Race Team, a competitive alpine ski racing academy, delivers sporting & education programs to young & talented ski racers from our team base, Haus Tirol. Athletes as young as 9 years old join us through a variety of camps and training blocks, to progress in their skiing skills, whilst keeping up to date with their studies, learning about teamwork, leadership, friendship & culture along the way.
The Ambition Race Team HouseMaster & Core Subject Teaching positions combine two vital roles within the Ambition Ski Team; the delivery of the education program & the pastoral care of our student-athletes. Ambition’s job will be to coach, educate and ensure the team’s general well being & safeguarding, around the clock.
We are looking for 2x applicants to fulfil these positions for the 2025/26 season & beyond, sharing the
highs and lows of an elite sports team. Hard working, enthusiastic & inspiring leadership skills are just some of the qualities we are looking for. Experience within the education industry alongside house parenting backgrounds are both highly desirable.
Duties:
EDUCATION
• Implementing work planners for each athlete
• Liaising with athlete parents & schools on educational needs.
• Liaising with Ambition parents, athletes and other staff to complete academic programme
• Communicating with head coach and program director on any disciplinary issues.
• Organise school snacks with Haus Tirol (Ambition base) Chef where required.
• Transporting athletes to & from school where required.
• Ensuring athletes are well organised for each school day.
• Potential private study / tutoring 1:1 for athletes needing extra support / study outside of normal academic program hours.
PASTORAL
• Provision of meals / clearing after meals (breakfasts).
• Injury management, including doctor, dentist, hospital visits.
• Enforcing training base ‘guidelines’ including bedtimes, waking athletes up and educating athletes
in how to be self-sufficient with organizing training kit.
• Being present during ‘down time’ after meals and free time for athletes to be able to talk to.
• Organise and implement day off activities, challenges, team building ideas.
• Prizes or incentives for general conduct and well behaviour.
• Communicate with parents regarding disciplinary, medical, social or psychological issues.
• Keep an updated injury book.
• Organise and review medical forms prior to camps.
• Attending race trips to support athletes whilst away from Ambition base.
ADDITIONAL / OTHER
• Working as support staff for Ambition organized race events – including helping with set up,
commentary, transport, refereeing / judging.
• Helping to clear daily snow fall at Haus Tirol (All Staff).
• Haus Tirol general support – all staff are expected to hand through dishes after meals, empty an
overflowing bin, close the front door, turn off lights etc (general shared living expectations).
• Airport runs assisting in collection / departure of athletes.
Remuneration:
- We offer a salary of £1350 / month (gross)
- All pre-agreed expenses are to be paid on receipt of relevant receipts / documentation (invoices)
- Travel to and from Austrian base @ start & end of season.
- Mileage reimbursed / charged at 35ppkm.
- N.B Please note that any costs relating to unforced vehicle damage / fines / personal
mileage will be deducted.
Additional:
- Lodging during camps at Haus Tirol in shared staff accommodation.
- Meals at the Ambition base during active camps are included.
- Friends / family visits discounted at ‘15% off’ of real-time room rates.
Employment Begins: Autumn 2025
Employment Ends: Spring 2027
Working Period: 6-month seasonal contract, 2x working winters.
Working Hours: Standard teaching hours of 3.5 per day for 5 days per week. Academic program prep & administrative duties of approximately 1 hour per day (average). Housemaster duties split accordingly with 2nd member of pastoral / educational staff.
Holiday: Accrued at 2.33 days per month of active service.
Vehicles: Ambition vehicle for work purposes only (as per vehicle policy).
REQUIREMENTS
PGCE or similar qualification is preferable but tutoring experience / placements taken into consideration.
- Must have a full and clean driver’s license.
- Must complete Snowsport England ‘Time to Listen’ Safeguarding course.by start date.
- Must have first aid certification.
- Will need to apply for a VISA D or similar to be able to work abroad for contract period.
