We are looking for a Couple or a Pair of Friends to become our team of two in Austria.
Period: Early June until 28 September 2025
We can only employ people in Austria who have an EU Passport or residential rights to work in Austria. Please do not apply if you do not fit these criteria.
As a Walk Adviser – you will be looking after our guests to help them get the best out of their Walking Holiday.
You must have a love of the outdoors and plenty of experience of hiking/walking in the hills and mountains with good navigational skills using an outdoor map. You need to have a genuine interest in (and enthusiasm for) exploring new areas. There is very little to do in the villages in which we are based unless you are an outdoor enthusiast. If you are looking for a lively nightlife, forget it!
A polite, sociable and obliging character is essential. Collett’s is justly proud of the outstanding quality of its past resort teams, and we owe much of our success to their hard work, attention to detail and, most of all, their friendly and engaging personalities. If you are the type of person who naturally contributes to a team environment, thrives on the company of others and enjoys looking after people, then read on.
Your Daily & Weekly Duties
At the start of the season, you will be out hiking everyday to learn 18 Walks (6 Easy, 6 Moderate and 6 Challenging) which we provide to our guests who then self-guide using our Walk Packs, comprised of Written Notes, Handbook, Map and App. This comprehensive knowledge of the Walks is the essential core of the job.
Guest Support and Local Knowledge
Six days a week you make yourself available to deal with guest questions throughout breakfast time and each evening before dinner at the Hotel Sonnenspitze (where most of our guests stay). Most of the time the guests are seeking advice and opinions of the Walk options so they can choose routes to fit their ability and experience.
- Morning (07:30–09:30 approx.)
- Help with last-minute questions about public transport, lifts, the weather, or walk packs.
- Evening – Office Hour (approx. 17:30–19:30)
- In a sociable atmosphere over a drink before dinner, help guests with self-guided walk plans, public transport details, alpine activities, local attractions etc.
- You may also be helping with other issues like accommodation problems, pharmacy hours, or even accompany someone to the doctor.
The first two days of a guest’s holiday are crucial — give them a great start and you’ll have their confidence all week.

- Keep basic weekly accounts for work-related purchases
- Maintain tidy and clean staff accommodation
- Keep good communication with landlords and suppliers, especially Daniel and the team at Hotel Sonnenspitze
- Serve as a friendly ambassador of Collett’s in the village
Teamwork & Flexibility
You should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also maintaining a friendly, communicative relationship with your teammate.
Expect to cover each other’s duties if needed and stay flexible for other seasonal tasks.
Be aware that the start and end of the season will be busier, limiting your free time. The middle of the season, however, allows for more rest and exploration.
Your Guests
Mainly from the UK, and all English speaking, the guests are generally a middle-aged crowd of ‘outdoor enthusiasts’ who love the mountains in all seasons. Many of them will have been on a Collett’s holiday before, winter or summer. Their expectation of you, the team on the ground, will be that you are on their side, warm and engaging hosts, focused on their comfort and enjoyment, with a genuine interest in helping them get the best from their precious days of walking in the mountains. For many guests, regardless of the fantastic area in which they are in, it will be you who make the holiday for them.
What You’ll Get
- Salary: Around €1400 net monthly on a standard Austrian contract
- Contract: Full-time for the first 6 weeks, part-time thereafter. This does not affect the wage.
- Accommodation: Spacious two-bedroom apartment in Ehrwald, 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

- Dinner 2–3 nights/week at the same hotel
