New… Outdoor Instructor Development Programme
Is the outdoors ‘you’? Are you just beginning your career and not quite sure where to start? Or perhaps you feel you are not developing in your current outdoor instructor role. If you want to gain knowledge, skills and experience in the great outdoors and are passionate and knowledgeable, this exciting new opportunity might just be what you have been waiting for!
Why Rootd?
We are Rootd. We are mixing things up and changing school residential trips for the better. Making them current. Making them matter. Our residential adventures encourage children to unplug, switch on and live in the here and now.
The Rootd Academy is our latest revolution. The standard apprenticeship doesn’t fit our company. The learning isn’t hands-on enough. The training isn’t broad enough. And let’s just say this, all too often the pay isn’t high enough. So, we are seeking brilliant individuals who are passionate about the great outdoors. Passionate enough to truly inspire the next generation of children to love the outdoors as much as we do.
Unique opportunity to be paid and learn!
In return, you will have access to our unique training programme. A training programme conceived by us and delivered by experts. At the end of the season, you will have a tonne of experience, including a Archery GB Instructor Award, a Level 3 Outdoor first aid qualification, a Level 2 in Bushcraft training. Plus, you will have been paid to learn. You will have worked 38 hours a week between March and October and earn £12.30 an hour. And, since we don’t work at weekends, they are all yours.
Oh, and did we mention all that training – it will be done in work time, so you will be paid to learn! Not just paid but supported too. You will have an internal champion, an experienced mentor who will help guide you on your journey. And you can get involved in all aspects of our business. You will be welcomed as one of our close-knit and supportive team.
Join an amazing team
Individuals on the development programme are responsible for working as part of a team to deliver memorable trips to groups of school children, leading and participating in activities, solving problems and challenges as they arise. And, remember we mentioned how we mix things up? Well, you will be encouraged to too. You might think the role is about being told what to do. Doing it our way. Not thinking for yourself. Staying in your comfort zone. It won’t be any of those things! You will be encouraged and supported to expand your horizons, to try new things, if you want to create a session, lead a group, try something out – we will help you identify and achieve new goals.
About You
Sound too good to be true? That is why we are looking for knowledgeable and passionate individuals. This is a truly unique opportunity for the right individual. And remember what is exceptional to us, might not be what is exceptional to others. You might not have traditional qualifications. You might be more interested in buzzards than business. You will love the fact that our office is based on a farm and we finish most evenings sat around a campfire.
